Guilt
I thought guilt was a mountain to be moved
You said guilt is all we’ve ever known,
but lift your eyes and see
Guilt is now, guilt won’t be
Took me by the hand,
led me to the mountains
Tall and solemn, sun hot on them
In their shade I was remade
That I was brought from lowly slum
Now to me but a controlling thumb
I am me, you let me see
I am animal, I am he
I am all that I should be
And all that I have ever been
Had ran from all I should have seen
I thought guilt was a mountain to be moved
Guilt is a foundation long disproved
